Great team! The doctors take the time to give clear, accurate information about your pet and explain everything in a way that’s easy to understand. The staff is caring, professional, and truly dedicated to the animals. I felt confident and reassured throughout the whole visit. Highly recommend Howell Animal Hospital for anyone looking for trustworthy and compassionate care for their pet.
I cannot possibly say enough great things about Dr Hussain and his staff. Our cat Stormy is a legend at the office as doc saved his life multiple occasions when nobody else could/would. They treated us like family from the minute we brought our "dying" cat in as a last resort. Dr Hussain gave him another 6 years of life.. giving me a total of 18 years with my best friend and for that I am forever grateful. Now we have two new monsters, Shelby and Bear, who will never see anybody accept Dr Hussain at Howell animal hospital. He is exceptional with all animals but especially cats, even old cranky Stormy who was considered a "caution kitty" because of his nauty behavior whenever he had to spend the night. The staff and doctor are the nicest people ever, and I will never take my cats anywhere else. Saving Stormy and giving me 6 additional years with my fur baby has carved out a very special place in my heart for Dr Hussain. My husband and I genuinely love this practice & Id give them 10 stars if allowed.
We had a wonderful experience with Howell Animal Hospital, Dr. Hussein and his amazing team.
The hospital was recommended to me by members of a cat lovers Facebook group, and I have never regretted choosing them. My husband and I have rescued four cats, and two of them were treated by Dr. Hussein.
Our cat Ringo was previously misdiagnosed at another hospital. We were told she had an oral mass, most likely cancer, and the vet even suggested putting her to sleep. Thankfully, we decided to get a second opinion and brought her to Dr. Hussein. After examining her, he asked, “Who told you it was cancer?” and explained that she actually had severe stomatitis from living on the streets for years without proper veterinary care, and that her teeth needed to be removed.
He performed oral surgery, and later also a complex TECA surgery. Thanks to his skills and care, Ringo is now living comfortably after years of severe pain. If we had listened to the first doctor, Ringo would not be with us today.
Dr. Hussein is highly professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly compassionate with animals. His team is also kind and always takes time to explain instructions and post-surgery care in detail.
He also treated our cat Buddy, who had severe gingivitis and needed dental surgery. Sadly, Buddy had FeLV and FIV and passed away later after a stroke on December 16, 2025. Dr. Hussein even spoke with my husband on the phone and cried with him after Buddy passed. That level of compassion meant so much to us.
Thank you, Dr. Hussein, for saving Ringo’s life and for caring so deeply about your furry patients. We highly recommend Howell Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate veterinary team.
Today was my final straw, which is so upsetting as we have been a patient here for years and have previously loved coming here, but things have changed over the past year or two.
Summary:
- My appointment was rescheduled 3 weeks in a row.
- I had a 10:20 appointment today and did not get seen by the doctor until 11:45 ish.
- Was told that we absolutely “must” remove a lump that was checked by the same doctor years in a row and never previously told we had to remove it. Quoted $2,400 for it.
- Had to wait another 30 minutes simply to pay and check out.
We travel over an hour to come to this vet and this was the third visit where we had to wait over an hour to be seen for a scheduled appointment. I understand there are emergencies but then you should call and tell me to come later. My dog was crying because he had to go outside so badly while we waited 45 minutes in a room after waiting almost an hour to be brought into a room without anyone checking on us. I had to find a nurse and beg for an update. All for a 15 minute appointment.
My other concern is that the doctor has seen the same bump on my dog for 3 years now and has never said it is crucial to have it removed. At this appointment I was now told that it had to be removed and was quoted $2,400 for the service. That seems astronomical to me and incredibly concerning that we weren’t told this over the last 3 years.
Even leaving I had to wait just to pay because the “notes weren’t updated in the system”. When I asked the older woman at the counter for an update she literally waved her hand at me saying “I know I know you’re waiting” like I’m in the wrong for being upset for waiting to LEAVE when I just waited over an hour and a half to be seen for a scheduled appointment that was rescheduled on me 3 weeks in a row.
We will never be returning.
Stay away from this place. My dog died from here while getting a generic procedure... not even a surgery. Worst part of it was they kept telling me he was getting better, so I did not even get to visit him before he passed away. Never even got an apology either.
I will report this complaint to the NJ State Board of Veterinary Examiners, and those of you who have also been treated wrong by this place should as well.
