We've taken our dogs to AHR since 2019 and found the care to be top notch. Dr. Elia is knowledgeable, compassionate, and personable. She's given us direct, honest advice in tough times and positive, supportive feedback with our most recent dog. I confidently recommend Dr. Elia and AHR.

I would never, ever trust Dr. Hickenbottom with a cat after the way I saw her and her assistant treat my cats at a free shot clinic. My cats are highly socialized, and have always received shots from their normal vets with zero qualms. Rather than letting them walk out of the carrier, which they were both excited to do since they are “adventure cats” who go on daily walks, the doctor’s assistant yanked both of my cats out of their carriers by their scruff and back skin, making them both immediately terrified. I have taken these cats to music festivals, to beaches, to extremely crowded venues, and I let children and strangers hold them regularly because they are such sweet and well-socialized cats. This team did not even give my cats a chance to behave before holding them down like they were rabid, and told me they will need gabapentin if I ever want to successfully vaccinate them (which—again—i have succeeded at with every other vet!!) They have never, ever growled and hissed at people like they BOTH growled at this team. I have truly never seen them so scared of humans as Dr. Hickenbottom made them feel today. I am so worried that my cats, who used to love going to the vet, will be scared of them now. If you love your cat and want them to keep trusting humans, I would NEVER see this specific doctor.

What a great office! The staff is helpful, and the doctors are amazing. They also provide grooming services. (I’ve included before-and-after pictures.) For cat grooming, please call in advance, as availability is limited to certain days and times. Ask for Annette—she is gentle and wonderful. Duke loves her!

We moved here five years ago and we've been using the Animal Hospital of Roxbury ever since. The vets, the staff, the techs, and groomers are always friendly and professional.
