I tried to book a check up for my pet rabbit who i recently adopted. When I called to book an appointment whoever was on the phone that day tried to tell my that my rabbit was a wild rabbit but I was explaining to her that he isn’t. She hadn’t seen a photo of him or would listen to me explain that he was a fully domesticated rabbit that someone left on the street. She reluctantly booked the appointment and he ended up being completely fine when we went in. I spoke with the doctor over the phone and inquired about neutering him. The doctor said I could book an appt for that and that it would run me roughly $350. I was heading out of the country for sometime so I said I would book it when I got back and settled so I could care for him in the healing time. I called back a couple weeks later and asked to book an appt for his neutering. Then they told me he would need a consultation exam first with blood work and that his neutering would need to be within two weeks of that appt. I asked why no one told me this before because I would have made sure he came within two weeks of the last appointment. The next available appt they had was in March at this point so I booked the consultation. I come today for it and realized that I would be charged yet another fee for the consultation plus more for the blood work ($75+) and $350+ for the castration later this week. this wasn’t explained to me over the phone in the last two conversations I had which means I end up spending way more money. Over $200 for the first appointment over $100 for this check up and then another almost $400 for the procedure. It cost what it costs but whoever works the phones needs to work on better communication because not everyone has money like that and I could’ve avoided a good chunk of the fees if they did the blood work the first check up and had me schedule the procedure two weeks from then.
